Drubpön Tsering

Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche is the residence Lama of the Drikung Garchen Institute. At the age of eight he took refuge with His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche. Three years later, he received novice ordination, the Bodhisattva vow, and Mahamudra instruction from the great Siddha Karma Norbu (Karma Kagyü).
He lived and studied with H.E. Garchen Rinpoche since he was 11. in the Gar monastery in Eastern Tibet and completed the preparatory exercises of Drikung Dzogchen Yangzab and the Longchen Nyingthig tradition.

Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche served as a shrine master in the Gar monastery for five years, where he celebrated many ceremonies, rituals and Drubchens with S.E. Garchen Rinpoche.

He learned and taught spiritual dances, playing ritual instruments, scattering mandalas, making tormas and the like. He also served as a lead singer in pujas and drubchens.

He received numerous authorizations, instructions and transfers from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, including the authorizations to the eight Herukas, the fifty authorizations of the Drikung Kagyü, authorizations in Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini and the Chöd collection as well as authorizations and especially Rigtä in all Dharma protectors of the old and new tradition. Khenpo Jigme Phuntshok granted him the Kalachakra authorization.

From Payül-Khenpo Tenzin he received instruction on the following scriptures: Bodhicharyavatara, the 37 Bodhisattva exercises, the Three Vows and the Fifty Verses on the Lama. From Khenpo Yeshe (Nyingma tradition) he received the Ngag Chung transmission from ear to ear and instructions on the basis, path and wish-result prayer. Under Khenpo Urgyen, he studied liberation jewelry, Gongchik, the heart essence of Mahayana teachings, and works on Tibetan grammar.

In a 100-day retreat, Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche practiced tonglening the six areas of existence (according to Dzogchen Patrul Rinpoche’s “The words of my perfect teacher”). He received the Bodhisattva vow, instruction on Sukhavati prayer, Nyingma Phowa and Dzogchen Tregchöd, Thögal, Yeshe Lama with the Khor-de-Rü-shen practice and the Rigpätsäl authorization from Khenpo Münsel.

He completed many retreats: the long sadhanas of Vajrakilaya, Yamantaka, Guru Dragpo, Vajrasattva, Amitabha and the White Tara, as well as a chöd retreat and 100 times Nyungne. He also practiced the Fivefold Path of  Mahamudra and the Six Yogas of Naropa in a traditional three year retreat. He received the instructions from Lho Bongtrul Tenzin Nyima.

In 2000, during the Snake Year Instruction, he received all the authorizations and transmissions of the Drikung Kagyu tradition from S.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang in Dehra Dun, India. During the monkey year teachings in Lumbini in 2004, H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and H.E. Garchen Rinpoche the title of a Drubpon (Retreat Master).

Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche has been resident lama at the Drikung Garchen Institute in Munich at the request of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche since 2003 and has represented H.E. Garchen Rinpoche as its representative throughout Europe.
