This year’s Nairatmya Retreat will take place at the Milarepa Retreat Center from August 21–29. In addition to H.E. Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche as Vajra Master, Drubpön Rachel will lead the practice, which will be recited and chanted entirely in English. More details can be found on the MRZ website.

At the beginning of the retreat, on Saturday, August 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there will be a public introductory talk by Kuchen Rinpoche and a Nairatmya practice with an offering ceremony to mark the annual Mar Ngok commemoration day. All practitioners are welcome to participate in person or online via Zoom. More information is provided below.

A NEW BEGINNING
Commemorating the Mar Ngok Lineage

We are happy to announce the sixth Commemoration Day of the Mar Ngok lineage, celebrated at the Mahaparinirvana date of Ngok Choku Dorje.

This online event is an annual celebration to revive the importance of the Hevajra and Nairatmya Practices and the connected Tantras. They were the main practices of the great Lord Marpa Lotsawa and his disciples of the Ngok lineage. By doing so, we hope to fulfill H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Thinle Lhundups’ wish to place Lord Marpa Lotsawa in his proper position of honor for the Kagyu lineages. This special day is the start of this year “Nairatmya-Drubchen”-Event at the Milarepa Retreat Center.

We are very happy that H.E Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche as Vajra Master of the drubchen will give an introductory talk.

The following Nairatmya-Puja and included Ghanachakra will be chanted in English verse by Drupon Rachel Dodds and Chantmaster Daniela D. König together with the Sangha.

This event is open to anyone to participate in presence or online.

On Saturday the 29th at 02:30 pm will be a fire puja to conclude the drubchen. Everyone who wants to participate in person is very welcome to the fire puja.

Why do we commemorate Ngok Choku Dorje?
|
It is because it was in the Ngok family that Marpa’s tantric teachings flourished and were passed on to further generations that the Mahaparanirvana of Ngok Chokyu Dorje - one of Marpa’s heart-sons - was chosen as a date to commemorate the whole lineage.
In December 2020, His Holiness suggested a celebration to revive the knowledge of the Hevajra and Nairatmya Practices and the great efforts of the Ngok family.
