ABOUT TOPIC OF THE TEACHINGS
Great yogi of Tibet Milarepa (1052-1135) who is known to have achieved enlightenment in his lifetime, spontaneously expressed his insight and blessings in the Songs of realization. Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche will give oral transmission and line-by-line explanation of the Milarepa’s song on renouncing the eight worldly concerns. The list of eight worldly concerns are known to be introduced by the great Indian master Nāgārjuna.

The compendium includes four pairs. The first concern in each pair is about taking delight in having some kind of object, whereas the other concern is being disappointed, upset, angry when we lose, do not get the desired object or are faced with the opposite. Objects are: (1) money and material possessions, (2) praise (being criticized is the opposite), (3) reputation or fame, (4) sense pleasure (fantastic sights, nice sounds, odors, tastes and tactile sensations).
